It’s always nice when mega stars say things that show they don’t take their wild success for granted. Hugh Jackman appears to be one such star!

JustJared reporters caught up with the Les Mis hunk upon his return to NYC on Friday. He had just gotten into the city from Atlanta, and was accompanied by his son, Oscar.

Hugh gushed about how indebted he is to director Bryan Singer for casting him as Wolverine in the first X-Men. The Aussie actor credits that film for the blossoming of his career.

“I owe, in a way, everything to Bryan [Singer],” Hugh confided. “The first film I did in America was X-Men.”

Hugh went on to discuss just how much he has bonded with his role as Wolverine.

“Wolverine is a character I’ve loved playing and I can’t believe it’s going to be my seventh time playing it. It just blows me away,” said Hugh. Seven times! Wow. How incredible that Hugh is still so interested in playing the part— he really was meant to be the clawed superhero!

Commenting on The Wolverine, which is slated for release next July, Hugh sounded enthusiastic.

“It not only feels like the right kind of project, it actually is so exciting that we’ll all be back together again. I don’t want to give away too much but I’m really excited not only to reunite with all those great actors but also to work with some of the other ones.”

We’re excited, too!
