It’s official!

After months of speculation and the real-life “reaping” of endless casting calls, 26-year-old English actor Sam Claflin has been chosen to play fan-favorite character Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

In case you don’t remember — and here’s your one and only spoiler alert — the flirtatious Finnick is re-chosen as a tribute in the 75th Hunger Games and becomes Katniss’s ally in the Second Rebellion.

In May, the blogosphere was buzzing with news that the team behind the sequel had narrowed down the list to three actors, all of whom have Hollywood A-list potential: Armie Hammer (The Social Network), Taylor Kitsch (Battleship), and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy).

But apparently, Sam had actually been the frontrunner for months, and last week we reported the unofficial news that he’d won the part.

But now that the ink is drying on the contract, Sam better be ready for his career to explode faster than he can say “mockingjay.”

The second Hunger Games installment roars into theaters on November 22, 2013. And we might be just a little excited to see Sam bare (almost) all in Finnick’s fishnet tribute parade getup!
