The second film in The Hunger Games series, Catching Fire, will arrive in theaters missing a few faces.

According to The Mary Sue, these three characters will not appear on-screen: District 8 runaways Bonnie and Twill, who meet Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 12 and tell her about the rebellion and existence of District 13; and Darius, the District 12 peacekeeper who tries to intervene during Gale’s (Liam Hemsworth) whipping and is turned into an Avox.

Producer Nina Jacobson said it was "agonizing" for them to lose portions of the book. "I want every single thing in there. But you know what? If you have to give up something in order to give more time to Katniss and Gale or to Effie as she starts to feel a conscience, you make the sacrifices in order to serve the characters and themes that are more essential.”

They always cut something. They have to cut something. We just have to hope the odds are (ever) in our favor that they don’t cut something vital.
