Justin Bieber isn't having the easiest 2013 so far, but he’s still one of the most popular stars on the planet with millions of Beliebers supporting his every action. Being young, rich, famous, and adored can do wacky things to your perspective. One guy who knows what it’s like to be a teen pop star — although not quite on JB’s level of fame — is ‘N Sync’s Joey Fatone.

Joey, now 36, talked to HuffPost Live about his cooking show and shared some advice for Bieber on navigating the perils of too much, too soon:

"Don't be a douche,” Joey said, laughing. “That's plain and simple. You get this bug from the celebrity thing, where you're very on top of the world and everyone's 'yessing' you to death, so you're like, 'I can get away with this. I can do that.' Not to say that he might be doing anything wrong — or he might be in the wrong mix of people, in his camp. I know Scooter Braun very well and he's a great guy, very cool. I've known him for many years. He's his manager and does as much as he can. But [Justin is] a kid. You're going to have fun. You're going to lash out. You're going to make mistakes. Everybody does."

You’re sounding wise there, Joey bear! We all make mistakes at every age, and most of us manage to avoid making them in the public eye. Most of us also aren’t famous enough to have rumors follow us around, whether true, false or somewhere in the middle. But the “yessing” — that has to be an issue for Justin, along with any other celeb with teams of handlers, hangers-on, and other folks telling them they can do no wrong.
