Kat Von D has never been one to live an understated life, so it’s no surprise that her wedding to Joel Zimmerman, AKA Deadmau5, will be a truly unique affair.
The former LA Ink star, who became engaged to the musician in December, tells People that the pair’s plans for a ceremony are “the furthest thing from traditional.”
While many brides have a hard time choosing between a princess theme and an Arabian Nights theme, Kat and Deadmau5 had similarly unique desires when it came to narrowing down the aesthetics for their big day. Picking an underwater theme, the pair decided to go dark, relying heavily on H.P. Lovecraft’s short story, “The Call of Cthulu,” about a half-man, half-octopus creature for inspiration.
With blue food and mermaid performers already booked, what else could this non-traditional pair ask for? A dress made for a sea queen, of course.
“It will have a sleek silhouette and include hints of iridescent teals, blues and deep violet ombré gradients," explained Kat of her wedding gown, which her fiance is designing with her.
As for Kat’s past relationships, including her most recent engagement to Jesse James, which ended with his alleged infidelity? They’re all in the past, and Kat is looking forward to a faithful union with Deadmau5.
"Being with Joel is the only thing that feels more natural than tattooing," said Kat.
"Our wedding is merely a celebration of that love and commitment we live in already,” added Joel.
It’s so nice to see a couple take “til death or mythical sea monsters do us part” seriously.
