Less than a week after Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise reached a divorce settlement, it looks like the newly single mother is taking control of her daughter Suri’s life, starting with her education.

It’s been speculated that Katie carefully planned the divorce to keep Suri away from Scientology. Now it appears she's moving her daughter in the direction of the Roman Catholic faith in which she herself was raised.

According to E! News, Katie has enrolled Suri for the upcoming school year in the Convent of the Sacred Heart on New York's swanky Upper East Side. The tuition will set Katie back a cool $38,000. The all-girls private school is home to such famous alumnae as Lady Gaga, Nicky Hilton, and several Kennedys, including Caroline.

Being six, Suri had no comment on the matter, but the popular site “Suri’s Burn Book” had quite a few things to say about plaid skirts:

“I’m trying, as I always do, to look on the bright side, and remember that great women in history wore school uniforms. Rory Gilmore, Blair Waldorf, and a post-makeover Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries all managed to not look hideous in school-mandated outfits.”

As far as we can tell, Suri seems to be enjoying the post-divorce world visiting the zoo and eating ice cream.

As for Katie Holmes herself, reports have surfaced that Tom’s ex — who was raised Catholic has returned to her roots by signing on as a parishioner at The Church of Saint Francis Xavier in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. The parish released an official statement saying, “We cannot comment on Ms. Holmes in particular.”  But in the same statement, church officials stressed their goal of "creating a safe, warm, welcoming, and friendly environment for people from all walks of life to practice their Catholic faith."

What do you think of Katie's return to Catholicism?
