Katie Holmes may want to start reading movie scripts again. After a few months performing on Broadway in the play Dead Accounts, the actress’s show will be ending early.

It was just announced that the play will be closing ahead of schedule, ending its run on January 6, 2013, instead of its planned closing date of February 24, 2013. According to Just Jared, the play had the lowest attendance of any show on Broadway, filling only 38.1 percent of its seats for the week and causing the show’s producers to cancel it nearly 20 performances early.

“I am extremely proud of this production and the cast,” the show’s producer, Jeffrey Finn, said in a statement. “Theresa Rebeck and Jack O’Brien have created an inspiring and hilarious new play and we are all sad to see Dead Accounts end on Broadway. I look forward to working with this remarkably talented cast and creative team again very soon.”

We can’t help but feel sad for Katie... but perhaps now she’ll have more time on her hands for a Dawson’s Creek reunion. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.
