"Die Young" has a new meaning this week — and it’s hardly a pop-friendly one.

According to TMZ, Ke$ha's once ubiquitous new pop song reached 167 million listeners on Friday, December 14 — the day of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut — but the day after, it dropped by three million listeners, and by Monday it was down to 148 million. That's still a high number, but you can imagine a song about partying hard at the club — "let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young" — just isn’t a great fit for a nation mourning children.

A music expert told TMZ "Die Young's" drop is so rare, the last time something fell this fast is when the Dixie Chicks got blackballed from country radio after their diss of President Bush.

The school shooting has also prompted some TV and movie schedule changes.
