Kristen Stewart’s private life may be far more public than ever, but it hasn’t altered the trajectory of her movie career.
Just one week after photos surfaced of the 22-year-old actress making out with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director — a revelation that has left Robert Pattinson, her boyfriend of three years, “heartbroken” — Vulture reports that Kristen has edged out Jennifer Lawrence for the lead role in an upcoming film adaptation of William Styron’s 1951 novel Lie Down in Darkness.
She’ll play the beautiful Peyton Loftis, a girl hated by her jealous mother and lusted after by her alcoholic father. Sounds cheery.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, financing for Lie Down in Darkness remains highly dependent on which actor is cast as Peyton’s father.
Kristen’s part is in line with the edgier indie fare she has been gravitating toward of late. Most recently, she filmed a steamy topless scene for On the Road, which showed at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is slated for release later this fall.
No matter your opinion of Kristen in the wake of the cheating scandal, one thing’s for sure: The girl is unstoppable.
