Is Lady Gaga sending mixed messages to her Little Monsters?

After gaining 25 pounds, Gaga has gone from embracing her new, fuller figure to announcing that she needs to go on a diet. With this quick change, is she sending her fans mixed messages about body image?

On one hand, Gaga has openly admitted that she gained weight, telling Elvis Duran on iHeartRadio that she just loved her father’s Italian cooking too much. She even tweeted a message to her fans that said, “To all the girls that think you're ugly because you're not a size 0, you're the beautiful one … It’s society who’s ugly.”

But Gaga also admitted, just as openly, that she’s on a “strict diet constantly.” Talking to iHeartRadio, she said, “I’m dieting right now, because I gained, like, 25 pounds.” She continued, "I have to be on such a strict diet constantly. It's hard because [I put on] a quite vigorous [live] show, so I tend to bulk up, get muscular, and I really don't like that. So I'm trying to find a new balance."

For Gaga’s fans, it might be confusing when she speaks up about accepting your body at any shape, while voicing her need to be on a strict diet in her next breath. Do you think Gaga should stay on message?
