Lady Gaga admits there’s a romanticism associated with artists who do drugs, but in her opinion, if you do, “you’re a f**king loser.” The singer was speaking from experience when she appeared on Lifetime's The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet on May 3. The segment was taped before her recent split with Vampire Diaries actor Taylor Kinney, but even before the breakup, she said she learned to “cherish my loneliness.”
Looking as if she were in mourning, clad in all black with her hair covered by a veil, the 26-year-old got very candid about her past drug use. 'When I was doing cocaine, it was like the drug was my friend. I never did it with other people. It's such a terrible way to fill that void, because it just adds to that void, because it's not real,” said Gaga.
Happily, that phase of her life is over. Lady Gaga explained how she kicked her drug habit, saying, “I sort of f**king woke up one day and was like, 'You're an asshole. You're not an artist. If you were a real f**king artist, you'd be focused on your music. You wouldn't be spending your money on the white devil.'” Instead, the “Edge of Glory” singer says, “I just stopped and focused 150 percent of my energy on my happiness.”
Hopefully she’ll keep that positive attitude post-breakup. Us Weekly reports that Gaga was too busy with her tour and recording an album to be in a relationship.
