You know you've made it when you're powerful enough to get Howard Stern to apologize to you.
Howard had stirred up controversy on his radio show on January 7 when he said about Girls star Lena Dunham: "It's a little fat girl who kinda looks like Jonah Hill, and she keeps taking her clothes off, and it kind of feels like rape. She seems — it's like — I don't want to see that."
Lena, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress and Best Comedy Series over the weekend, spoke to Howard on his show on January 14 to clear the air.
"I'm not that fat, Howard," she told him. "I don't mean to take major issue with you about this. I'm not super thin, but I'm thin for, like, Detroit."
For his part, Howard was apologetic. "I don't even know where to begin with all of this," he told her. "The reason I felt so awful was because when Perez Hilton wrote his article, he told half the story. ... I started to compare you to Woody Allen ... the whole thing came together for me.”
Howard apparently agreed with her about her not being that fat, but told her she overplayed the "fat angle" on Girls.
"You're not obese or anything," he said.
This led Lena to respond: "Thank you. Another thing for my gravestone," she said with a laugh. "Howard Stern says, 'You're not obese or anything.'"
We're impressed that Lena is such a good sport, and we're glad admits to Howard regretting what he said.
