Lindsay Lohan reportedly totaled her Porsche Friday afternoon by slamming into the back of an 18-wheeler big rig on the Pacific Coast Highway. The actress was on her way to the Liz & Dick set with her assistant when she lost control of her rented vehicle. The good news is that, as of early Friday evening, Linds was back at work after being released from the hospital. The bad news? She wasn’t supposed to be behind the wheel, according to Liz & Dick producer Larry A. Thompson.

“When they went to pick her up today, for some reason she decided they (Lohan and her assistant) would get in her own car, so the limousine driver followed them,” Thompson tells Deadline. Filming, which was suspended immediately after the accident, has since resumed — but not without costing the production team. “There will be a production loss today, we are just trying to minimize the loss,” Thompson adds.

News of the car crash doesn’t bode well for Lindsay’s reputation as “the most insured actress ever.” In an earlier interview, Thompson defended his choice to cast Lindsay, arguing she deserved “another chance.”

Has Thompson changed his mind? It sounds like the producer’s blood pressure is rapidly rising. “I was nervous before the movie started; now I’m just petrified. I was telling someone: Lindsay went to the doctor, and I should go see a psychiatrist.”
