In Mad Men’s most recent episode (Season 5, Episode 3: “Tea Leaves”), a new character was introduced, loudly: Michael Ginsberg, a slightly inappropriate but definitely talented young copywriter, played by Ben Feldman. Yesterday (April 5), we wondered what Michael’s presence at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce would mean for Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) and now we have some more hints from Ben himself.

In a new interview with Vulture, Ben explains to Vulture that the potential attraction between Michael and Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) will have more to do with art than sex. At least, initially.

When told about the viewers’ notable interest in a Michael/Peggy relationship, Ben says, “That’s so funny. That’s such a thing that people are interested in. I can only speak to my initial impression of the script. I guess I sort of got that, too, but not nearly as much as other people who watched last Sunday’s episode.”

But he’s not saying something resembling love won’t happen. He continues, “I think there’s a lot more to it. He’s kind of a crazy person and this brilliant artist and I think something in that resonates with her.”

Hmm... So we know that Michael “fascinates” her, and that something about him “resonates with her.” While we don’t think Peggy’s taste in men is the best (Duck? Pete? That scrawny kid who gave her a hard time for working late in Season 4, Episode 7: “The Suitcase”?), Michael might actually be a great match for her. Besides, her current beau seems a little too politically volatile to be taken seriously.

Do you see these two getting together in the near future?
