Arguably, the most memorable scene from the Mad Men Season 5 premiere (Episode 1 & 2: “A Little Kiss”) was the “Zou Bisou Bisou” birthday dance given to Don Draper (Jon Hamm) by his young and carefree sex kitten of a wife, Megan (Jessica Pare).

But just because Megan got to show the men and women of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce just how adorable she is and just how perfect the Draper marriage is, that doesn’t mean there won’t be trouble in paradise. And we’re not talking about the S&M sex they had on their once-pristine, now-filthy white carpet.

Show creator Matthew Weiner told NPR, “That white carpeting to me, in their apartment, is a symbol of the purity of their relationship, whether it's sexual or whatever, that's their life and bringing the office into that life literally destroyed her apartment.”

The trouble is, neither Megan nor Don is the type to give up their work ambitions. So combining their work lives and home lives will be an insurmountable challenge. All they wind up with is the proverbial devirginized carpeting that, no matter how many new and perfect white carpets they try replacing it with, always loses its initial luster.

In other words, this perfect marriage is probably doomed.
