It's been a rough start to 2012 for America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon. In January, the 31-year-old entertainer fell ill with kidney failure, and weeks later, found himself back in the hospital with blood clots in his lungs — a potentially fatal condition.

"I thought I was getting better," Nick told People. "And then that happened, so that kind of came out of nowhere."

After weeks of tests and rounds of treatment, Nick is happy to announce that his health is finally under control. Thankfully, doctors were able to discover the root of the problem — an autoimmune disorder similar to lupus.

Although he'll live with the condition the rest of his life, it can be controlled through a healthy lifestyle. And perhaps most fortunately, it's not hereditary, so he doesn't have to worry about it being passed down to his 10-month old twins, Moroccan Scott and Monroe.

"I feel blessed to be alive," Mr. Mariah Carey said. "If it wasn't discovered, I don't know [what would have happened]."
