Sad news as a beloved TV actor has passed away.

Allan Arbus, who played psychiatrist Sidney Freedman on the popular show M*A*S*H, has died at age 95, according to the New York Times.

Allan has appeared in films like Coffy and on a slew of other TV shows, including Law & Order, Matlock, Taxi, and Starsky & Hutch.

His most recent onscreen appearance was in a 2000 episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

M*A*S*H co-star Alan Alda was impressed with how believable Allan was as a psychiatrist on the show.

“I was so convinced that he was a psychiatrist, I used to sit and talk with him between scenes,” Alan Alda says.

Allan started out as a photographer and later moved into acting.

He and wife Diane Arbus ran a successful fashion photography business. They had two daughters before divorcing in 1969.

The enigmatic Diane was portrayed by Nicole Kidman in the 2006 film Fur.

Allan later married second wife Mariclare in 1976, who survives him. The couple have one daughter.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time.
