We hope you haven’t made other plans, because ABC’s Nashville debuts tonight at 10:00 p.m. The show follows music legend Rayna Jaymes (played by the incomparable Connie Britton), whose reign as the queen of country is threatened by the younger, less talented Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). When Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with Connie Britton at the 2012 Emmy Awards, she explained why Nashville is this fall’s must-watch show.
Wetpaint Entertainment: Why do people need to watch Nashville?
Connie Britton: The quick pitch for Nashville is, it’s going to be a show that tells great stories about really fantastic characters and family in the music business, and the music is going to be out of control.
Where do we find ourselves after the pilot?
In Episode 2, my character finds herself really trying to make some pretty major decisions about her life. It’s just always drama, drama, drama.
What do you love about this character?
I love this character because I think she’s feisty, and I think she’s a self-made woman, and really has worked very hard to live a life that feels like something of her making.
