The current members of the super group Backstreet Boys announced during a London concert that Kevin Richardson will rejoin the group after a 6-year absence. Backstreet Boys (BSB) will tour this summer with NKOTB — as part of the co-headlining concert juggernaut NKOTBSB — now with both mega-famous ‘90s boy bands sporting all their original members.
Can’t you just hear the thunderous screams of delight from here?
Kevin announced in 2006 that he would make an amicable departure from bandmates Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, and Howie Dorough to pursue “the next chapter of my life,” but maintained that having been a part of BSB was “a dream come true.” Since then, Kevin performed with the group on occasion while also working on solo projects, but didn’t make an official return.
The 40-year-old confirmed the news of BSB’s reunion on Twitter, saying “"Hello beau-ti-ful people. Yes, the cat is OFFICIALLY out of the bag. It's on and crackin!" We are really feeling the boy-band love between these guys, with BSB tweeting back to Kevin, “Now everything is back to normal … welcome back @kevinrichardson.”
By “normal,” the guys must mean sold-out concerts around the world, right? Then yes, Kevin, welcome back to normal!
