After much controversy, actor Sacha Baron Cohen was allowed to walk the red carpet of the 84th Annual Academy Awards dressed as The Dictator — the character from his upcoming movie of the same name.
When he stopped to talk to E!’s Ryan Seacrest, The Dictator — who was proud to be wearing “John Galliano and socks from K-Mart” — held an urn with the ashes of his former “doubles tennis partner,” deceased North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il.
“It was his dream to come to the Oscars, and to be sprinkled over the red carpet, and over Halle Berry’s chest again,” he said, before dumping the urn of “ashes” all over Ryan Seacrest.
To his credit, a shocked Ryan handled the incident well, revealing, “I had an idea something was coming, but I didn’t know in what fashion or form.”
We have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ll hear of The Dictator tonight!
