One of the most highly anticipated new characters in the works for Once Upon a Time Season 2 is Captain Hook. Now, TVLine confirms that Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue will play the one-handed arch-rival of Peter Pan.

According to TVLine, Captain Hook is described as “a handsome, fearsome and confident pirate ship captain.” The description continues below:

Hook relishes every challenge and never backs down from a fight, whether the reward is power, riches, or women. He possesses the meticulous style and old-school manners of a proper gentleman, but beneath that veneer lies a vindictive enemy who will not rest until all his enemies have been defeated… and humiliated.

Colin is best known for his guest-starring role on The Tudors, when he played Duke Philip of Bavaria. Captain Hook will reportedly appear in Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 4, with the potential for a recurring role.

This news, of course, poses the important question of who will play Peter Pan. Have we met him in Storybrooke already? Could Rumpelstiltskin’s (Robert Carlyle) son turn out to be the boy who never grew up? Check back here at Wetpaint Entertainment for any and all casting updates!

Once Upon a Time Season 2 premieres on Sunday, September 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
