[UPDATE: We've added video of Paul Rudd's Parks and Recreation debut below!]
Are you ready, Ruddies? Tonight's all-new ep of Parks and Recreation sees the first guest spot by adorable actor and, as the promos have been touting, "secret big-time movie star" Paul Rudd. And we can't wait!
As previously revealed by Vulture, Paul will play Leslie Knope's opponent in the race for city council. The remaining details of his role have been kept under wraps, but it's really Paul's connection — or should we say connections — to the show that may be the most interesting part of his guest spot.
1. Adam Scott (Ben Wyatt) and Paul Rudd are longtime pals. In fact, according to HitFix, the role that Adam ended up playing on Party Down was originally penned for Paul Rudd. Relax, Adam didn't steal Paul's part.
2. Rashida Jones (Anne Perkins) and Paul Rudd have costarred in the past. The pair have appeared together in Our Idiot Brother (along with Adam Scott - thanks, Sam S.!) and I Love You, Man.
3. Paul Rudd hosted (and dropped by) Saturday Night Live while Amy Poehler was still a cast member. In 2008, Paul hosted an episode of SNL featuring Beyonce as the musical guest, and Amy was still Weekend Update co-anchor. Paul also made a cameo in 2009 during an ep hosted by Will Farrell. Ah, the good ol' days.
4. And then there's the Lisa Kudrow connection. As you may recall (fondly), Paul Rudd played Phoebe's commitment-phobic eventual husband on Friends, while Rashida Jones played a big part on Lisa's Showtime series, Web Therapy. What can we say? It pays to know Lisa Kudrow.
There you have it. Know of other connections? Post them in the comments below!
