Shannon Miller is having a girl!
The seven-time Olympic medalist learned on the March 13 episode of The Doctors that she and husband John Falconetti are having a girl, according to People.
Shannon, 36, and John are already parents to three-year-old son Rocco. Shannon, a former gymnast, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2011 but was given a clean bill of health later that year following chemotherapy.
She and John ”talked about having another child," she says. "We knew with the surgery — having my left tube and ovary removed along with the tumor — that that would decrease the chances. Then you add chemotherapy on top of that.”
“My oncologist said at least a year to wait before even trying," Shannon continues. "It really gave us a chance to appreciate everything we already had."
Now, the couple are nearing the birth of their second child and couldn't be happier.
"We got the green light to start trying, and we are now five-and-a-half months along,” she says. Yay!
Before learning the gender, Shannon revealed what her son was hoping for.
"I think Rocco wants a girl," she said. "It’ll be the first girl grandchild on my side of the family." Looks like little Rocco got his wish!
Shannon was part of the Olympic gymnastics team that won gold in '96 and was known as the "Magnificent Seven."
Congrats to the happy family — or should say Magnificent Soon-to-Be-Four!
