It's one thing to be a 27-year-old guy just having a crazy night out in Vegas. It's another thing to be third in line for the British throne, a potential embarrassment to the royal family, and wasting all the money being spent on security to follow you around to protect you from ... well ... yourself.

TMZ released photos of nude Prince Harry (looking fit, man!) and Buckingham Palace confirmed the photos are real. (Imagine how that conversation played out.) This is hardly Harry's first "scandal" — although most of the scandals wouldn’t be an issue if he were not royal.

Some people will blame Harry. Some will say he was just having fun. And some will blame his handlers for not protecting him.

Dai Davies, the former head of royal protection at the Metropolitan Police Service, told the U.K.'s Telegraph, "I don't envy their [security officers'] job. It must be a nightmare at times, trying to ensure that he doesn't get into these kinds of scrapes."

It's also a financial issue for the country, he added. "We are paying huge amounts of money for this young man to be followed everywhere he goes by security, which costs so much."

How much? Davies said British security costs in excess of £120 million a year, which is equivalent to about $190 million. However, he added, "[royals] have to have a life and they didn't choose to be royals."

Davies said Harry will return to his role as an army officer after the holidays and this will probably just blow over quickly, like everything else.

"I'm told he's a lovely man and everyone forgives him for whatever he has done almost as soon as he has done it," he said.

That says it all, doesn't it? Harry can get away with anything, unlike William. It pays to be (and take care of) the spare heir!
