What's going down this weekend? If you're looking for something to do, a good movie is always a surefire hit. Here's the scoop on three flicks showing this Friday, June 8.
In this sci-fi drama, a team of explorers find themselves battling to save the human race after discovering a clue that sheds some light on the origins of mankind. From the director of Alien and Blade Runner (Ridley Scott), this epic is sure to be weird and visually stunning.
Sexy: Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron, and Logan Marshall-Green
Not sexy: Alien invasions
Verdict: Despite a hole-filled plot, critics are still mostly on board with this thrilling ride, so it could be a fun choice to catch with your fanboy buddy.
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
In this third adventure from our favorite talking animals — offered in 3D, naturally — Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) try to find their way back to NYC... via Europe. To keep things interesting, they join the circus!
Sexy: Um, seriously?
Not sexy: Finding anything in this movie sexy
Verdict: You know you loved the first two, so treat the kiddos in your life to a fun day at the theater.
Peace, Love & Misunderstanding
When a stuffy lawyer mom from NYC takes her two teenagers to her mother's hippie farmhouse for a weekend getaway, the trip to the countryside turns into a summer-long journey filled with music, romance, and self-discovery. Jane Fonda, Elizabeth Olsen, Catherine Keener, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Katharine McPhee, and Chace Crawford (yes!) make up the cast, among others.
Sexy: We did mention Chace Crawford, right?
Not sexy: Uptight lawyers
Verdict: This is a no-brainer for a night out with the girls — get into the hippie spirit by hitting up an organic farm-to-table restaurant beforehand!
