Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones could say anything and we'd probably support her, but at this point she's not supporting herself.

While doing interviews to promote her new movie Celeste and Jesse Forever, Rashida told SpinningPlatters.com more gay actors should come out of the closet.

“A movie star. Like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let’s do this. Big stars need to come out. Ricky Martin was huge. That was big; I was really happy about that… People are so precious about their careers.”

But now she's apologizing. She tweeted Tuesday, “Made a thoughtless comment about John Travolta. I sincerely apologize. Nobody’s personal life is my business.”

Interestingly enough, Rashida is sensitive about Twitter. Her bio says "I'm terrified of Twitter. Please be gentle." And in the long Spinning Platters interview,  she and Will McCormack talked about their struggles with Twitter strategy. It's good for public apologies, anyway!

Do you think Rashida was right to apologize for instructing JT to come out?
