Earlier this week, troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan took a pointed dig at fellow trainwreck-in-the-making Amanda Bynes, calling attention to Bynes’s growing list of indiscretions as of late.

On Sept. 16, in an apparent attack on Amanda, Linds tweeted, “Why did I get put in jail and a nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?” And while Lindsay has since deleted that tweet, we couldn’t help but wonder if the oft arrested actress actually had a valid point.

Since April 2012 Amanda has been arrested for a DUI, charged with two separate hit-and-runs, and had her car impounded after it was discovered that she was driving with a suspended license, a consequence of her earlier automotive troubles.

While Lindsay is incorrect in saying that Amanda has received “no punishment(s)” — a suspended license and a DUI arrest with a colorful mug shot to prove it isn’t exactly nothing — it does seem like Amanda has gotten off a bit easier, at least in the court of public opinion.

The difference in the treatment of the troubled twentysomethings was even more apparent following Lindsay’s most recent arrest on Sept. 19 after she allegedly clipped a pedestrian and then fled the scene of the accident.

Many were quick to assume that Lindsay was drunk or otherwise under the influence at the time of the accident (with the man she hit even claiming that LiLo “smelled like alcohol real bad”) but the actress and other witnesses insist those claims are not true.

In contrast, Amanda’s own hijinks only seem to illicit lighthearted jokes with a hint of concern, but had Lindsay made the same mistakes, we bet she would have been judged more harshly.

Granted, neither gal should be behind the wheel of a car at any time in the foreseeable future (and we wouldn’t want to share a hotel room with Lindsay either), but do you think she’s being treated unfairly by the media? Weigh in below!
