Reese Witherspoon learned the hard way that pregnant women don't get special treatment from the cops — and neither do fake pregnant women.
The 37-year-old Legally Blonde star appeared on Good Morning America on May 2 and explained her behavior during last month's arrest, according to Us Weekly.
Reese was arrested for disorderly conduct on April 19 when her husband was cited for a DUI.
"I saw [the cop] arresting my husband, and I literally panicked," she explains now. "I told him I was pregnant. I'm not pregnant. I said all kinds of crazy things."
"I was so disrespectful to him," Reese continues. "I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better. It's just unacceptable."
Reese is also providing more details about where she and husband Jim Toth were before they were pulled over.
"We went out to dinner in Atlanta, and we had one too many glasses of wine," she says. "We thought we were fine to drive, and we absolutely were not."
"We know better, and we shouldn't have done that," Reese adds.
She says it's also tough explaining what she did to her three young children.
"We have to say when you make a mistake you take responsibility, and we are taking responsibility and doing everything in our power to make it right," she says.
Let's hope this will be Reese's last run-in with the law — and her last fake pregnancy.
