As the lead in David Cronenberg's upcoming Cosmopolis, Robert Pattinson is making a significant departure from what we're used to, and at least one person is super-psyched about it: the legendary director himself!
As reported by E! Online, Cronenberg couldn't have had kinder things to say about R. Pattz to Italian film magazine Cinerepublic. Calling him "interesting in Twilight," he went on to stand by his buzz-making choice to cast Rob as the film's lead: "It is a heavy role, he appears in each scene... The choice of an actor is a matter of intuition," Cronenberg said.
As for the film itself, this definitely isn't Twilight, folks — Cosmopolis is a moody, quasi-futuristic and bleak urban drama, slightly reminiscent of American Psycho, from the director who brought us warm and fuzzy treats like The Fly and Naked Lunch. And R. Pattz is in some rather high-profile company here, heading up a cast that includes Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, and Samantha Morton.
Cosmopolis is set for a debut at the Cannes Film Festival next month. We can't wait to see R. Pattz in (heavy) action!
