Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) and Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) have had quite the tumultuous relationship. In our minds, these two crazy kids are perfect for each other, but somehow there always seems to be a swarthy Italian, an uptight Brit, or a “break” (or lack thereof) getting in the way.
Yet it’s almost the end of Season 5, and Ross and Rachel fans are beyond restless. These two need to be together and they need to be together now.
Check out our top 5 reasons why Rachel and Ross are made for each other, below!
5. “She’s Your Lobster”
Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) said it best in Season 2 when she shared her lobster theory with Ross after he took a phone message from a guy Rachel met at the movies. According to Phoebe, “She’s your lobster... It's a known fact that lobsters fall in love and mate for life. You know what? You can actually see old lobster couples walkin' around their tank, you know, holding claws.”
Phoebe may be quirky, but we think her theory totally makes sense: Lobsters for life!
4. Monica and Chandler Are Doing It
A post-London Monica Geller and Chandler Bing (Courtney Cox and Mathew Perry) managed to hide their relationship from the group for a few episodes — though we’re relieved everyone finally knows, even if they did find out by catching Monica and Chandler making out from Ross’s apartment.
If this odd (but awesome!) pairing can work, it’s about time Rachel and Ross give their relationship another try.
3. “I, Ross, Take Thee, Rachel”
Talk about a Freudian slip!
Friends fans across the globe picked their jaws up off the floor after Ross accidentally (yeah right) said, “I, Ross, take thee, Rachel” during his wedding to Emily in London. Even better? Thanks to Rachel’s last minute jaunt to London to stop the wedding, she caught Ross’s epic screw up.
Now that Ross has finally divorced the frosty Brit, we think it’s the perfect time for his real love, Rachel, to make her move.
2. Everyone Loves a Happy Ending
Fans fell in love with the idea of Ross and Rachel back in Season 2 when a hilarious video of Rachel and Monica getting ready for their senior prom resurfaced. In the video, Ross comes to the rescue when it looks like Rachel is about to be stood up by her date (he puts on a tux and everything!), but his kind gesture goes unnoticed as Rachel’s guy shows up at the last minute and they disappear out the door. A heartbroken Ross is left all alone, still pining after his older sister’s best friend.
Added bonus: When present day Rachel sees what Ross was willing to do to make her happy, she gives him one hell of a kiss.
It’s clear that Ross has had a thing for Rachel since high school, and if that isn’t enough to justify these two characters spending the rest of their lives together then we don’t know what is.
1. How Cute Would Their Kids Be?
With Rachel’s golden locks and gorgeous green eyes, and Ross’s geeky charm and incredible smarts, we think that any future Geller-Green offspring would be an easy contender for most perfect lil’ tyke ever created.
Plus, can you imagine what it would be like if Ross and Rachel finally worked out all of their issues and had a kid? We get excited just thinking about it!
