It’s official: After photos surfaced of Russell Brand, 36, and Katy Perry, 27, vacationing separately — and without their wedding rings — over the holidays, TMZ has confirmed that Russell has filed for divorce from his pop star wife.
In a somber statement to the press, the British comedian says, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends.” He allegedly cited “irreconcilable differences.”
This comes less than one month after Russell dismissed rumors of marital strife, telling Ellen DeGeneres, "I'm married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge."
… or until one year has passed. Whoops! Katy and Russell tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in India in October 2010.
At least the celebrities’ vows surpassed Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’s marriage, which lasted a mere 72 days.
