Chris Hemsworth has changed a lot since breaking onto the scene as Kim Hyde on the popular Australian soap Home and Away, a role he played from 2004 to 2007.
Although the 28-year-old Aussie actor will always be a god among men, he was more Bieber, less Norse he-man back in 2006 (left). Thanks to the bulking up he did for the 2011 summer blockbuster Thor, the movie that shot him to superstardom, he now cuts an imposing figure. He wielded Thor’s hammer once again in The Avengers, which is already killing at the box office, and his latest epic endeavor, Snow White and the Huntsman, is sure to cement his status as a handsome, hulking male lead.
But OUT magazine's May 2012 cover boy doesn't exactly see it that way. The impressively humble guy opened up to the mag about his extreme good looks, explaining, “It’s so easy to sound fake sincere when you talk about looks or whatever, but I never thought, Oh yeah, great, I look like this, therefore I ought to get that. We all have the same insecurities.”
As if that’s not charming enough, he found his big leap to fame more than a little surreal. On filming Thor with Natalie Portman as his love interest, he dished to Australian GQ, "The whole experience was like, 'What the f**k am I doing here?' But in a good way. It literally seemed like last week I was still working on Home and Away."
These days Chris has been busy with more than major movies and his massive muscles: He’s now a father. His wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, gave birth to their first child, a baby girl named India Rose, in London on May 11, 2012.
It’s official: We’re smitten. But if he’s not your type (weirdo), there’s always his younger brother Liam — of Hunger Games fame.
