Jimmy Fallon is said to be replacing Jay Leno as host of The Tonight Show next year, and now some talented jokesters are being discussed to replace Jimmy, according to the New York Post.
Currently, the leading candidate to host NBC's Late Night is reportedly Saturday Night Live star Seth Meyers, who has a similar job as host of SNL's Weekend Update news segment.
"[SNL and Late Night producer] Lorne Michaels wants Seth to take over from Fallon," a source reveals. "It would be perfect for him."
Seth had also reportedly been a contender to replace Regis Philbin on that morning chat show.
The name that would make us even more excited for this new gig would be Tina Fey, and the 30 Rock and Admission star has even been talking to producers about taking the job.
"Tina Fey’s name had also come up, but she has said she was too busy to do it," the source adds. Blerg!
62-year-old Jay Leno's contract isn't up until fall of 2014, but the network is reportedly hoping that he'll step down very soon so that NBC can announce Jimmy as the new Tonight Show host during upfronts this May.
We think Tina as talk show host would totally rock, but we'll have to wait and see.
