Actor Samuel L. Jackson just struck down with great vengeance and furious anger at New York Times film critic A.O. Scott — because he didn't adore The Avengers as much as other critics.
Right now the superhero film has a super-high Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 92 percent and it's on the path to make a crazy amount of money during its opening weekend. But that’s not enough for Sam.
"#Avengers fans,NY Times critic AO Scott needs a new job! Let's help him find one! One he can ACTUALLY do!" Sam tweeted after seeing the review.
But it turns out some fans sided with the film critic, defending his right to express his opinion. A.O. Scott told E! News he was "touched" by the response.
"If I'm going to dish out criticism, I should be able to take it," A.O. told E!. "But I must say that I was touched at how many people on Twitter had my back, and more importantly how many were eager to defend the idea that honest and independent criticism has a place, even when the targets are superhero blockbusters and big movie stars. As usual with Twitter, there was a mixture of silliness and insight that made for a fun afternoon."
Maybe Sam was just living up to his character’s name — shouldn’t a guy called Nick Fury be expected to bring the fury … and respect it if it comes back at him?
