Now that we know how the people feel, it's the critics' turn to pick their favorite actors and movies of 2011. Read on for the surprising winners!

Silent black-and-white films may seem like a thing of the past, but The Artist proved otherwise at last night's awards. The French hit scored a whopping four wins last night, including some biggies like Best Picture and Best Director.

And, while a lot of people predicted that The Help would be long-forgotten by the time awards season rolled around, the poignant comedy came in second with three awards: Best Actress (Viola Davis), Best Supporting Actress (Octavia Spencer), and Best Acting Ensemble. You go, girls!

Although Shailene Woodley from The Secret Life of the American Teenager didn't triumph for her amazing performance in The Descendants, her on-screen dad, George Clooney, was given top prize for his knockout portrayal.

Other winners were Drive for Best Action Movie and Bridesmaids for Best Comedy Movie.

Next up, the Golden Globes on January 15!
