Recent news of Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy's breakup (er, "break") may make it awkward for the Kennedys, who announced just hours before reports of the couple's split hit the interwebs that they would be honoring the country star at their high-profile December family gala.

Sources told Page Six that the Kennedy family does not believe it’s the end of the road for Conor and Taylor. Instead, they say, the couple is spending time apart as Taylor promotes her new album, “Red”, and Conor finishes his senior year at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts. The source explains that the deans at Conor’s school are not happy about his spotty attendance due to “jetting around with Taylor” on a moment’s notice.

Taylor is certainly busy too, having been recently spotted in New York City for her interview on Katie, scheduled to air today.

The gala, scheduled for Dec 3rd, will be attended by many in the Kennedy clan, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and such celebs as Dianna Agron and Melanie Griffith.

With her appearance more than a month away, we hope Taylor’s Conor Kennedy affairs stay in order, for the sake of her standing in the Kennedy clan. Awkward relationship-related moments are never out of the question, and her recent walk down memory lane on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where Ellen posted photos of her with various rumored former beaus, caused the superstar to turn red when Cory Monteith’s photo appeared on-screen.

Here's to Taylor making it a December to remember (in a good way).
