We've grown accustomed to Taylor Swift's frilly princess frocks (and not in a good way), but at last night's Billboard Music Awards, the 22-year-old singer finally dressed her age in a stunning fire-engine red lace gown by Elie Saab.

Taylor said goodbye to her signature corkscrew waves and opted for a simple, straight style with blunt bangs. For makeup, the "Mean" singer rocked super edgy smoky eyes, and for accessories, she went crisp and clean with Neil Lane jewels.

There couldn't have been a more appropriate time for Taylor to embrace her womanhood — she was named Billboard's 2012 Woman of the Year, an award presented by New Girl star Zooey Deschanel.

What do you think of Taylor's sexy grown-up gown? Too risque or totally red hot?
