With today’s news that parents-to-be Beyonce and Jay-Z have installed a 2,200 square foot nursery for their first baby, we initially had to get over the shock of realizing we could fit nine of our tiny New York apartments in that space. After that passed, we started wondering what the mini-kingdom must contain — were there bedazzled crowns, sparkly jazz shorts, or rows and rows of tiny NY Yankees baseball hats? Maybe, but Hip Hop’s royal couple aren’t the only ones to go over-the-top when it comes to housing their stars-to-be.

Katie Holmes: Not much is known about Suri’s Pampers palace, except for reports that Tom Cruise and Katie wanted only the best of the best for their bundle. The nursery reportedly included a white sleigh crib, bedding with nursery-rhymes printed into the fabric, a hand-painted changing table, and something called a “Moses basket.”

Christina Aguilera: The song siren’s baby room might as well have come from the set of Fantasia. With a gigantic, grimacing moon taken from the set of her Back to Basics tour, a circular crib in the center of the room placed underneath endless layers of blue fabric, and an entire wall covered in an anime scene complete with magic mushrooms and smiling clouds, we can’t tell if we’re in heaven or The Chocolate Factory.

Jennifer Lopez: We would expect nothing but elegance from this luxury-loving star, who is always draped in fur or diamonds. Her twins enjoy a view of an enormous crystal chandelier from their canopied cribs. Always thinking ahead, J.Lo had the digs for the boy-and-girl residents of the room painted in gender-neutral beige and cream colors.

Angelina Jolie: For the arrival of Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, the Namibian location offered tons of safari-themed inspiration, including piles of over-stuffed elephants, a pair of monkey bookends, and even a camouflage diaper bag for Brad. We’re pretty sure we could still spot Mr. Jolie-Pitt despite the, um, clever disguise.

Victoria Beckham: When we read that Posh was looking to decorate her first baby girl’s nursery with an “old-fashioned theme” and “shabby chic” decor, we hardly expected the tally to be in the neighborhood of...$240,000! How many cashmere blankets can one baby need? Unsurprisingly, the Beckhams reportedly got some decorating tips from Tom and Katie — does spending your first year in a land of luxe ensure happiness? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
