UPDATE: Yep, it's Tyreese! And he will be played by Chad Coleman.
Make room for the new guy! Or gal?
The Walking Dead isn't shy about killing off main characters (RIP, Lori and T-Dog ... and Dale, Shane, Amy...) and we know there are more deaths to come, so there's probably space for new faces.
Some characters, like the mega-popular Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), were never in the original comics. Others, like Michonne (Danai Gurira) and The Governor (David Morrissey), are very well known from the books and are getting their feet wet on Season 3. According to comic book guru and TV executive producer Robert Kirkman, another new/old character is coming to the AMC show on Season 3, Episode 8, "Made to Suffer," which is the fall midseason finale and will air on December 2.
“There’s a new character added,” Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. “A big deal fan favorite from the comic book is introduced into the show in this episode, so be on the lookout for that.”
EW speculated that the new character is probably Tyreese, especially since there have been rumors that actor Chad Coleman (The Wire, I Hate My Teenage Daughter) was spotted in the Atlanta area where TWD films.
Who is Tyreese?
In the comics, the former NFL pro became Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) right-hand man after Shane's death. Now that Daryl is in that role — and Daryl HAD no role in the comics — it will be interesting to see how they play this, if Tyreese does show up. He was already around by this point in the storyline, in the comics. He had a romantic relationship with Carol (Melissa McBride), who is now missing (but should be found on Sunday's Episode 6, "Hounded"). Earlier this season, Carol started openly flirting with her buddy Daryl. But Tyreese also had a fling with Michonne. (Drama!) And he has a daughter, Julie. It remains to be seen if any of his original storyline will show up on TV.
Do you think Tyreese is definitely the new arrival or do you have other ideas?
