Yes, here’s another reason to go to Comic-Con — or just another reason to be jealous of anyone who can go if you can’t.

Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas shared more good news with his film backers, beyond the news that the Kickstarter campaign is over $5 million (!) at this point. He e-mailed (via E! News) that Veronica Mars is working on having an official San Diego Comic-Con panel, but at the very least there will be a special “Veronica Mars Fan Event.”

"Even if we have an official panel at SDCC, we're planning to pull out all the stops for our own exclusive event, so this is the one you'll want to be at.” He wrote that the event will take place "July 19, 2013 at 7:30 PM, in what I understand to be an intimate theatrical venue in the Gaslamp District, near the Convention Center." Several cast members will be there for a Q&A session and they’ll show some exclusive footage from the new movie. According to E!, fans can donate $150 to secure the Comic-Con reward package.

It was recently revealed that Jason Dohring (Logan) had officially signed the movie cast, along with star Kristen Bell. As Rob e-mailed with that news, “Don’t worry. We’re busily working on bringing your favorites into the fold." According to the Kickstarter page, the movie will be shot over the summer with post-production in the fall and a projected release date of early 2014.
