Critics have been pretty positive about NBC’s new drama Awake, but we all know critically-acclaimed doesn’t necessarily translate into ratings gold, or audience love.
D-day came Thursday night (March 1), when Awake, with its complicated-yet-intriguing plotline about a man who lives in two different realities, premiered.
It was considered a ratings win but, as the New York Times’ Media Decoder blog pointed out, the win “came with several asterisks,” including the show losing some of its audience halfway through the episode (as well as going up against repeat episodes of shows on rival networks ABC and CBS).
But, in the age of Hulu and DVRs, we’re more interested in hearing if YOU, our fellow TV fans, will tune in again (via whichever medium you prefer).
Did Michael Britten’s pain-filled portrayal of a man who was OK alternating between living a life where only his son or wife survived tug at your heartstrings? And, if the premiere didn’t completely win you over, are you willing to give the series a second chance — or have you pushed the snooze button on Awake indefinitely?
