Even Ryan Gosling needs a good cry sometimes.

Although our favorite guy had a lot of feelings in The Notebook and Blue Valentine, his Place Beyond the Pines character — Luke, a bank-robbing, face-tattooed motorcycle stunt driver — sounds like someone who would keep his emotions at bay.

But surprisingly, that’s not the case.

During Movieline’s chat with Ryan at the Toronto Film Festival, the interviewer mentions a scene in which Luke cries during his son’s baptism — and Ryan is the first to admit that his emotions got the best of him.

“I didn’t know that that was going to happen,” Ryan reveals. “I was just sitting in the church watching the baby be baptized, and I don’t know why I was emotional but I was.”

But he has an adorable excuse: his love for his onscreen son.

“The kid that Derek [Cianfrance] cast, who plays my son as an infant — his name is Tony Pizza. It’s hard not to like a guy named Tony Pizza, Anthony Pizza Jr.,” Ryan spills. “So, I just liked that guy, and we really hit it off.”

Mr. Pizza isn’t the only thing making us cry. Yes, Pines reunites Ryan with stellar Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance, but there’s another bonus: It co-stars Bradley Cooper! As seen in the photo above, the sexiest man alive and his runner-up get along swimmingly.
