Oh how far you’ve come, Jimmy Fallon. The former SNL star-turned-Late Night host had the rare privilege to interview President Barack Obama last night on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus. After slow-jamming the news with Jimmy, the two talked up everything from Obama’s college years to what it’s like being surrounded at home by women (namely wife Michelle and his two daughters, Sasha and Malia).
“It’s basically me and Bo,” quipped Obama, referring to the family’s dog. “We go to the man cave, we turn on SportsCenter, we have a couple of beers,” he joked.
When asked what makes him laugh, the president declared his appreciation for the movie Groundhog Day and the occasional YouTube video sent his way (“Dancing bears and cute kitty cats,” he gleefully mentioned). He even gave a shout-out to the sketch comedy show Key and Peele and how he loved the duo’s impression of him, which involves Jordan Peele playing Obama and Keegan-Michael Key as his “anger translator,” offering an expletive-filled interpretation of the president’s statement.
“I can’t actually repeat what he’s saying, but it’s pretty good stuff,” said Obama with a smile.
