Whitney Houston died from a mixture of the prescription drug Xanax and alcohol, a family source told website TMZ. The news came late Sunday night/early Monday morning, after the 2012 Grammy Awards, which featured an emotionally-charged tribute performed by Jennifer Hudson.

The source told TMZ that the coroner had determined that the singer died from the dangerous drug/alcohol combination, not drowning, as speculated. As previously reported, the LA County Coroner found no evidence of foul play in Whitney's death, and a security hold on the autopsy results is expected to be lifted soon. Whitney's body could be flown back to Atlanta as early as tomorrow.

The family source also identified Whitney's aunt, Mary Jones, as the person who discovered the singer's body in the bathtub. On Saturday, February 11, after laying out her niece's clothes for the evening's Pre-Grammy party, Mary left Whitney in the bathroom for roughly 30 minutes. When Whitney didn't come out, Mary entered to check on her, found her submerged in the bathtub, and attempted CPR. Sadly, she could not be revived.

Our hearts go out to the family, and we hope that Whitney is laid to rest very soon.
