UPDATE (APRIL 15): ONTD points to a tweet from RuPaul confirming that Alyssa is getting her own spin-off show! Makes sense! Excited for Alyssa, Ru, and everyone involved. We'd totally watch 30 minutes of Alyssa making faces.
ORIGINAL REPORT (APRIL 14): Alyssa Edwards may have been eliminated from RuPaul's Drag Race on April 1, but that doesn't mean she was eliminated from RuPaul's life! RuPaul just showed up to the MTV Movie Awards with Alyssa on his arm. Is this a consolation prize for Alyssa (although the season was filmed in advance), or something more?
The ninth to be eliminated Season 5 of Drag Race, Alyssa left behind long-time rival Coco Montrese — and as one last insult, had to lip-synch for her life against Coco. The two frequently came to blows over Coco having to take over the Miss Gay America crown from Alyssa, and we think Alyssa was always way nicer about it, but shade makes better TV, so whatever. But how can you eliminate someone after they show you a split like this?!
Despite the elimination, Alyssa quickly became a fan favorite. We don't think anyone could blame RuPaul for choosing Alyssa as a date, whatever the context is. I mean, she's a fantastic dancer, and look at those faces! THE FACES!
What do you think is going on between Ru and Alyssa? Are we over-speculating? Are they just colleagues, or best buds, or something more scandalous? The gossip; it burns!
