Even the stars need a lil' help sometimes. The View's Oscar-winning co-host Whoopi Goldberg is trying to finish her passion project and directorial debut: a documentary on Moms Mabley, the legendary African American 1960s comedienne, who Goldberg credits as one of her main influences. But hey, why not just finance the film yourself? Aren't you, like, rich and famous and stuff?

Whoopi told InieWire that it isn't that simple. "I take care of a lot of people on one check. So I needed some help...When you run out of dough you have to start saving up again, and that postpones everything. I didn't want this to take five years to do," she explained, citing family commitments and her producing role on Broadway's Sister Act as financial constraints.

The actress and TV mogul is trying to raise $65,000 to finish the doc, and thought that Kickstarter was the way to go. She has been a supporter of the site and active donor on many KS projects, so she wanted to get in on the action!
