What was up with Reese Witherspoon's puzzling mug shot?
Although looking her best for her disorderly conduct mug shot was probably the least of Reese Witherspoon's worries this week, her photo is definitely one of the odder ones we've seen, as she isn't looking at the camera.
So why is this? Was she asleep? Or was she looking at something really interesting on the floor?
Apparently, Reese was too drunk to do what the mug shot photographer asked, according to People.
"She was wobbly," a source within the Atlanta Department of Corrections reveals. "She didn't need help walking, but she wasn't at a point where we could get a really clear picture."
Word has it that authorities took several photographs, but this was actually the best one.
"On another picture, she sort of bent down at the waist and we got the top of her head," adds the source. "She wasn't being difficult or rude, but her motor skills weren't what they needed to be."
However, did Reese get special treatment because she's a star? One lawyer thinks so, since not looking at the camera is typically a big no-no.
"You can't look down in the photograph," says Atlanta attorney Peter Odom. "The whole point of a mugshot is for identification purposes. To my knowledge, there is no exception to this rule."
"Protocol was definitely not followed," Peter continues, saying that police will typically grab a suspect's head and move it where they want it to be.
However, the law enforcement source says that wasn't necessary in this situation.
"This isn't a big case and there's not much more investigation that has to be done, so getting a clear picture of the suspect looking at the camera wasn't absolutely necessary," adds the source.
Still, we're kind of sad that we don't get to see Reese's lovely eyes in her mug shot!
