Yeah! Princesses are doin’ it for themselves!
After centuries of passing the English throne to the oldest male heir, the monarchy is getting with the times, Queen Elizabeth announced yesterday. The succession rules will be amended so that the throne will pass to the oldest child, regardless of gender, according to The Daily Mail.
That means that when Prince William and Kate Middleton finally get around to producing that baby bump we’re all breathlessly awaiting, they can go ahead and invest in a teeny tiny crown, because he or she will definitely be next in line for the throne after Will.
The queen also announced a number of other amendments, including lifting a ban on heirs to the throne marrying Roman Catholics. Whew! Now Harry can date a nice Italian girl without worrying she’ll get sent to the Tower of London.
