Call us crazy, but Zac Efron is a seriously underrated actor. We blame it on the chiseled abs and perfect smile, which have continually typecast him into cheesy romcom roles that should be reserved exclusively for Channing Tatum.

Exhibit A: The Lucky One. Critics are pouncing on Zac's latest flick, describing his portrayal of former Marine Logan Thibault as "lazy" and accusing him of "dropping the ball."

CNN goes so far to say he "sleepwalks" his way through the entire movie. The Daily News takes things one step further, calling Zac's performance underwhelming to such a degree that he "might as well not even be there." Way harsh, guys!

Did these critics ever stop and consider that perhaps the failure isn't Zac's, but rather a cheesy story penned by the master of all things trite, Nicholas Sparks? Not even George Clooney could deliver the line, "You should be kissed every day, every hour, every minute" without sounding like a complete tool.

If you ask us, it's time for Zac and his chiseled abs to get their moment to shine with a real, grown-up script that doesn't sound like it was written by a group of middle-school girls.

And until he nabs that big, breakout role (which he obviously will), to the critics we say: Leave Zac alone!
