10 Famous Patricks Who Should Be Saints
In honor of the beer-swilling, green-wearing, party-loving saint for which St. Patrick’s Day is named, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite famous Patricks.
In reality good ol’ St. Pat wasn’t quite as exciting as his holiday, which marks his death (grim, right?), not the first time he drank too much whiskey. Here’s St. Patrick’s history on a cracker: As a 16-year-old, Patrick was taken from his family in Wales and forced into slavery in Ireland. He escaped after six years, returned to Wales, and eventually entered the church. He then went back to Ireland as a bishop, and by the 7th century he was revered as the patron saint of the country.
The celebs in this gallery may not headline their own holiday, but they share a name with long-dead guy who does. And for that (and their other many accomplishments), they should become saints. How ‘bout it, Vatican?
